Pioneer Heritage

Yesterday I was talking to my grandma about the pioneers and she said that my great-great-great-great grandfather was the first of the pioneers to step foot into the Salt Lake Valley. He was Orson Pratt, brother of Parley P. Pratt. He and Erastus Snow were part of a exploratory company. They were traveling with one horse between them and Erastus Snow dropped a coat and went to retrieve it, so Orson Pratt continued on into the valley. He entered the valley on July 21, 1847, three days ahead of Pres. Brigham Young's arrival in the Salt Lake Valley.
